Congratulations to our newly qualified Solicitors

Congratulations from the Butcher & Barlow team to our newly qualified Solicitors Jade Atkinson and Stephen Hale.

Jade and Stephen both joined Butcher & Barlow in 2017 as paralegals, before beginning their training contracts in September 2017. They have both worked in a variety of departments and offices throughout the two years, but completed their training contacts in the Firm’s commercial department.

Jade will be working along side Corporate and Commercial Partner James Hodgson in the Firm’s head office in Bury.

Stephen will be based at the Firm’s dedicated commercial office on Gadbrook Park, Northwich working with head of Commercial Property Zoë Paton-Crockett.

Anthony Higham, Managing Partner, said of the qualification;

“Both Jade and Stephen are great additions to the Commercial team. They both have a friendly and professional manner and are well liked and respected by their clients. Their qualification is well deserved and we wish them great success in their career.”

Jade said of her qualification;

“I am delighted to have qualified as a Solicitor after a lot of hard work over the years. I am also extremely happy that I am remaining at Butcher & Barlow in a department which I love working in.”

Jade studied Law at the University of Lancaster before completing the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law, Manchester.

Stephen completed a history degree at the University of Manchester before going on to study the Graduate Diploma in Law and then the LPC both at BPP University.

“I have really enjoyed my time with Butcher & Barlow as a trainee. I have been passed a great deal of knowledge and experience and I am ready for the challenge ahead. I feel particularly privileged to be working in the highly regarded and continually expanding Commercial Property team.”

15 of the current Partners and a further 6 Solicitors undertook their Training Contracts with the Firm, a fact of which Anthony Higham is proud;

“We believe that the work/life balance we offer, combined with the varied caseload and the responsibility we encourage our Solicitors to take, means that we have a driven and contented workforce who want to share not only in maintaining our excellent reputation but in being part of our future.  We believe it is important to encourage each member of staff, whether qualified or not, to feel part of our team and that they can contribute to our continued success.”

The Firm currently has 8 Trainees, three of whom are in their second year.
