Congratulations to Nicola Wingfield

We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Partner to the Firm. Nicola Wingfield, a family law specialist, joined the already 29 strong Partnership in August.

Justin Kelly, Nicola Wingfield, Robert Morris

Nicola, who works at the Bramhall office, began her legal career with Butcher & Barlow and is one of 15 of the current Partners who started out as Trainee Solicitor’s with the Firm.

Nicola says:  “I was very pleased to be offered a Partnership in Butcher & Barlow after 10 years of enjoying working for the Firm. The work/life balance offered by the Firm, combined with the varied caseload and the responsibility I was given at an early stage has motivated me to help the firm continue to succeed.”

Nicola is a family law specialist and is accredited by the Law Society as an expert in children matters. This accreditation, gained after rigorous assessment, means that Nicola is able to represent children, as well as parents and other family members in Court proceedings which concern their welfare.

Senior partner Charles Barlow said of Nicola’s promotion: “We are proud to recognise the hard work and dedication our people put in to making the Firm the success it is.  Nicola has the combination of academic ability and common sense which makes a successful lawyer and I congratulate her on her well deserved promotion.”

We threw some quick fire questions at Nicola to learn a little more about what inspires and motivates her.

What made you want to be a lawyer?

Instinct. I knew I wanted to be a lawyer from a very young age. And I haven’t changed my mind since!

What is a typical working day?

Most days are spent at Court or in the office seeing clients and dealing with paperwork and correspondence.

Any interesting cases you have been involved in?

Plenty! Given the sensitive nature of family cases I can’t elaborate further.

Interests outside of work?

I have a one year old and two golden retrievers who keep me very busy.

If you could tell your 15 year old self something, what would it be?

Don’t be too hard on yourself. It’ll work out fine in the end.

If you could be someone else for the day, who would it be?

The Queen. I’d like the title!

Who do you admire in the business world?

Walt Disney. His legacy has been around for so long and will continue for decades to come.

Tea or coffee and how do you take it?

Tea with just a bit of milk.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Disneyworld – because it’s fabulous!

How would your friends describe you?

Kind, classy, honest and feisty!

Nicola is part of a 12 strong team of Family lawyers in the Firm. The Legal 500 ranked department is made up of members and accredited specialists of family law associations including Resolution, the Law Society Children Law Panel and the Law Society Family Law Panel.
