Butcher & Barlow assist with the purchase of Cheshire Farmart

Altrincham based Angela & Graham Bowcock have purchased Cheshire Farmart magazine, the ‘Yellow Page’ style advertising directory for farmers.

Jonathan Aldersley, Partner at Butcher & Barlow, provided the legal support for the purchase.

Having worked with the company for the past 8 years Angela has a strong understanding of the business and has played a significant part in its success over the past few years. They take over from David & Lorna Roper who have run Cheshire Farmart for over 20 years and are now retiring.

Of the transaction Jonathan said;

‘We acted for client company in its acquisition of the shares of Cheshire Farmart and dealt with all of the acquisition and security documents.  We dealt with the matter within the agreed deadlines and we are delighted to see the positive reaction to the purchase and wish Angela all the very best in this exciting new chapter of her business life’.

Cheshire Farmart is delivered free each month to over 6,500 working farms and despite recent economic challenges in the industry, the readership keeps growing every month. Whilst Cheshire Farmart is available to view online, it’s the paper magazine which farmers particularly use and often keep by the phone as a directory of essential contacts.

Angela said, ‘I grew up on a farm near Macclesfield, so Cheshire Farmart magazine was always around and I know 1^st hand how valuable a resource it is to farmers.  To have the contact details of all the local agricultural suppliers in one place can be a godsend when there’s so much to co-ordinate in running a farm’

Currently based in Wilmslow, Angela will move the business Head Office to her home town in Altrincham. “I’m really looking forward to being part of the thriving Altrincham business community” she added. “Over the last few years there’s been a fantastic vibrant feel to the town and I know that being part of that will be very exciting.”
