Supporting Bury Hospice and The Joshua Tree

Butcher & Barlow is pleased to announce Bury Hospice and The Joshua Tree as its chosen charity partners for this financial year.

Both organisations provide care, support and reassurance to families facing some of life’s most difficult moments. As a Firm with deep roots across the North West, we are proud to support their work through donations, fundraising, awareness raising and involvement from colleagues across our offices.

This year’s partnerships have been chosen because of the meaningful difference both charities make to local people. For many of our colleagues, clients and contacts, the work of organisations such as Bury Hospice and The Joshua Tree is not abstract. It is personal. Their support reaches families at times when compassion, practical help and emotional strength are needed most.

Supporting Bury Hospice

Bury Hospice provides compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their loved ones, both within the hospice and at home.

As our head office is based in Bury, the hospice has a special place in our local community. Its work is valued by many families across the town and beyond, including some connected to our own Firm.

Anthony Higham, Managing Partner at Butcher & Barlow, said:

Being part of the Bury community means a great deal to us, so supporting Bury Hospice was a natural choice. So many local families, including some of our own employees, rely on the care and support they provide. We are proud to play a part in helping them continue that work and we are looking forward to getting involved in fundraising throughout the year.

Stuart Richardson, Chief Executive of Bury Hospice, said:

We are delighted to have the support of Butcher & Barlow. The generosity of local businesses and the community is what enables us to continue caring for patients and supporting families when they need us most. We are very grateful for their commitment and look forward to working together.

Supporting The Joshua Tree

The Joshua Tree supports children and young people living with cancer, as well as their families, from diagnosis and throughout treatment and recovery. The partnership was inspired by a personal connection within the Firm, after a colleague saw first hand the difference the charity made to a close friend and their family.

Our support will include sponsorship of The Joshua Tree’s annual Ladies Lunch, involvement in its Family Fun Day and Firm-led fundraising activities throughout the year. We also hope to raise awareness of the charity’s work across our own networks, helping more people understand the support available to families affected by childhood cancer.

Jonathan Aldersley, Senior Partner at Butcher & Barlow, said:

We are proud to be supporting The Joshua Tree this year, not only through our initial donation but through a wider commitment from colleagues across the Firm. Hearing directly about the difference the charity makes to families facing incredibly challenging circumstances made this a very meaningful choice for us. We are looking forward to building a strong relationship with the team and doing everything we can to support their work over the coming months.

Richard Driffield, Chief Executive Officer of The Joshua Tree, said:

We are incredibly grateful to Butcher & Barlow for choosing to support us this year. Partnerships like this make a real difference to the families we work with, helping us to expand our support. It is especially powerful when support comes from a personal connection, as it reflects a genuine understanding of the challenges families face.

A year of fundraising ahead

Following a significant initial donation to both charities, colleagues from across Butcher & Barlow will be taking part in fundraising events, supporting charity-led activities and creating opportunities for clients and contacts to get involved over the coming months.

The first event is an Inflatable 5K, where 20 members of the Butcher & Barlow Team will be climbing and sliding their way around 30 obstacles. Each team member is raising money for their chosen charity and you can support them by following the links below to their JustGiving pages:
