I am a solicitor specialising in family law and private client work.
I was admitted as a solicitor in 1999 and joined Butcher & Barlow in 2011 as a result of a merger between the firm of Salt Veeder and Butcher & Barlow. I am a Partner and I am based at the Leigh office.
I specialise in family law, with a particular emphasis on finances following on from divorce or separation and issues regarding children. I am a member of Resolution and I have acted in a number of high net worth divorces and important children cases. I have previously represented a client with profound hearing loss, accused of serious assault upon a child during contact, based upon videotaped interviews which were successfully challenged in the High Court.
I also specialise in private law dealing with estate planning, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications and Probate matters.
I am passionate about helping my clients get results. My friendly professional style helps clients feel at ease. I work closely with my clients and ensure that they are fully informed throughout. I deal with matters from taking initial instructions, advising on costs which is an important consideration for clients, negotiating and representing clients at court.
Out of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and gardening when the weather permits!

What our clients say
At a difficult time Claire was there every step of the way, she was professional with a caring side. My late Farther passed away just before the first lock down, and so every thing was carried out remotely, we were kept informed and proceedings went incredibly smoothly and surprisingly quick.
Claire just a heartfelt thank you for everything you have done. You’re fabulous at your job & I appreciate your help / services more than you know.
thank you for the way you dealt with my divorce. You were always professional, gave good advice and with the human touch at some very difficult times. Thank you for the way you put my case forward at the telephone Court hearing – absolutely way ahead of his solicitor and in a class of your own.
Claire dealt most professionally with my severance settlement agreement and I could tell she had a great deal of experience in this area. We took one meeting to go through the details and my agreement was, checked, signed and delivered to work within a couple of days. Thank you.
Claire Jackson was my solicitor that looked after my family court application from the first step to the last and her, experience, professionalism, attention and care ensured that my kids got their Dad back in their lives after a nasty breakup. So from me, T and J. Thanks Claire for all that you did.
I am very grateful for the work undertaken on my behalf.
My tasks throughout have been greatly eased by my decision to pass the legal work to Butcher & Barlow has certainly proved to be a wise choice, particularly as initially I was minded to ‘go it alone’.
I would seek your legal support and advice should a future need arise and also recommend the practice to anyone seeking legal representation.
Claire Jackson made the process of getting a Grant of Probate for my late mother’s will very easy – one meeting to pass information over at the start and then all done by Butcher & Barlow.
The fixed fee and charges were quoted upfront and the whole process (including likely timescales) was managed very professionally. I would recommend using Claire to anyone in similar circumstances.
