Butcher & Barlow Raises over £300,000 for Cancer Research UK

Butcher & Barlow are delighted to have been awarded a bronze certificate in recognition of raising an incredible £300,945 through legacy gifts in Wills for Cancer Research UK.

The Firm has participated in Cancer Research’s Free Will Service for over 20 years at the Bury head office. The Free Wills Service is a campaign by Cancer Research UK that offers anyone aged 18 and over the opportunity to make a Will written by a solicitor, or have an existing Will updated. Those using the service are asked to consider leaving a gift to Cancer Research.

The Private Client Team have been offering their advice and guidance to clients seeking to write or update their Wills through the scheme for many years, and look forward to continuing to support the amazing work that Cancer Research UK does for people all over the nation.

Chris Hopkins, Head of the Private Client department and STEP practitioner said:

“We are delighted to take part in Cancer Research’s Free Wills Service and raise so much money for such a worthwhile and beneficial cause.  We are pleased to have been able to make such a positive contribution, and we would like to thank all of our clients for being so generous with their donations.”

Cancer Research UK receives no funding from the government, with over a third of its life-saving research funded through people who bequeath gifts to the charity in their Wills. In the year 2018/2019, £189 million was raised through legacy gifts.

If you would like to consider leaving a legacy gift to Cancer Research UK in your Will through the Free Wills Service, you can get in touch with Private Client team at the Bury office on 0161 764 4062.
