I am a Partner at Butcher & Barlow having joined the Firm in October 2022. I am part of the Corporate and Commercial department and work at our Gadbrook Park office in Northwich.
I qualified as a Solicitor in August 2015 having completed my training contract with a boutique commercial firm in Chester. I had previously completed the GDL and LPC at the University of Law in Chester after studying a history degree at university. I have worked as a corporate and commercial solicitor since qualification.
I undertake both Corporate and Commercial matters for a wide variety of clients, from start-ups, entrepreneurs and SMEs to large national or international companies. I enjoy working with a good range of clients, and taking the time to understand their individual objectives and priorities. Many of my clients are longstanding ones who I have worked with for a number of years.
In terms of corporate work, I specialise in transactional matters, including share or asset purchases and disposals. I employ a collaborative approach with clients, their other professional advisors and the legal advisors for the other parties to a transaction. I understand that clients generally want an efficient transaction process that results in them receiving proper advice and protection, and do not have time for a solicitor to take a needless ‘point-scoring’ approach. Since joining Butcher & Barlow, I have managed a number of significant share purchase matters for clients that have involved tight deadlines. I can also assist clients with reorganisations of their existing business structures.
I also look after a broad range of commercial work for clients, some examples of which are:
- Shareholders’ Agreements;
- Terms & Conditions;
- Franchise Agreements.
I have also regularly managed trade mark registrations for clients throughout my career.
Outside of work, I try to keep myself active by playing tennis (not particularly well) when the weather is nice, and would ideally spend any downtime visiting Cornwall (again, when the weather is nice).
