I am an Associate Solicitor, working within the Family Law Team at Butcher & Barlow’s Tyldesley office.
I have over fifteen years’ experience in Family Law, having previously worked for a local authority in the child care department before joining Butcher & Barlow. I graduated from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, undertook my LPC in Manchester obtaining a distinction and completed my Training Contract with the Local Authority.
I am accredited in Children’s Law by the Law Society, achieved through a rigorous assessment process which ensured that I have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practice in the area of children law and the representation of children.
I have extensive experience in public law proceedings involving children and regularly conduct my own advocacy. I have also been instructed directly by the Official Solicitor where a party lacks capacity to represent their views in Court.
My experience includes representing parents including parents aged under 18 and children in:
- Care proceedings;
- Pre-proceedings/PLO;
- Discharge of care orders;
- Contact with children in care;
- Adoption;
- Inherent Jurisdiction including deprivation of liberty;
- Secure accommodation;
- Representing children in private law children proceedings; and
- Disclosure applications/ public interest immunity”.
