New appointments bolster the Commercial Team

Over the past few months, Butcher & Barlow, has announced several new appointments in its Commercial Team to deal with increased demand.

Jo Ormiston, Mark Turner and Nick Ball, all experienced lawyers, will bolster the Commercial team at our Bramhall and Gadbrook Park offices.

Nick Ball re-joins the Firm, having previously worked at the Northwich office in 2019 before moving to assist with the management of the commercial property team at a firm in Chester city centre in 2020.

Nick said: “I am incredibly excited to re-join Butcher & Barlow in this new role and the recent rebrand makes it even more so. Their reputation goes before them, and the new look really emphasises their values and their collaborative approach to the shared decision making they are known for.

“I think my past experience will stand me in good stead and I’m relishing the opportunity to work with much larger clients and putting my expertise to use.”

Mark Turner will also work at our dedicated commercial office at Gadbrook Park in the Dispute Resolution team. A solicitor for 25 years, Mark said: “I was excited to join a firm that has such a strong, well-regarded dispute resolution team, generating good quality work.

“Butcher & Barlow are an ideal fit for me in terms of the type of work and clients they service but also culturally with their integrated collaborative way of working.”

Jo Ormiston has a background in the legal aspects of the construction industry and we look forward to her developing the Firm’s offer in this sector from the Bramhall office.

Jo said: “With uncertainty surrounding the construction industry, especially around the effects of Brexit and Covid, the need for advice in this sector is increasing exponentially.

“Butcher & Barlow pride themselves on being a full-service, client focussed law firm yet all too often they were needing to send clients’ construction work elsewhere.

“I can now bridge that gap and will be supporting the commercial property department to offer seamless support on development schemes and provide pre-emptive construction law advice to clients embarking on projects.

“In my previous role, I had to regularly put my hard hat on, so I have a real understanding of the day to day reality faced by many of our clients. This is invaluable for advising on the right approach and I’m really looking forward to establishing and building the firm’s construction law expertise.”

Of the new appointments Partner Jonathan Aldersley said: “Our new branding reflects the growth of the Firm and our commitment to collaborative working with clients but also internally across departments and offices. We pride ourselves on understanding our clients’ needs and providing sound commercial advice. For that we need the right calibre of staff – and these new appointments do just that and are a further indication of Butcher & Barlow’s ambitions for growth and excellence.”

Welcome to the team Mark, Nick and Jo. We all look forward to getting to know you and working with you.
