Butcher & Barlow welcomes a new property litigation specialist to their commercial team

James Holton, a property litigation specialist, joined Butcher & Barlow in October from Chester firm Slater and Gordon. He brings his specialist property litigation knowledge to the already strong commercial property, agriculrural and litigation offering at the Firm’s Gadbrook Park office.

James specialises in property litigation with a particular emphasis on commercial landlord and tenant matters such as lease renewals, terminations and dilapidations. He also acts in matters such as rights of way, restrictive covenants and ownership disputes, acting regularly for clients in the High Court, County Court and Property Chamber.

The commercial litigation team at Gadbrook Park, which is led by experienced Partner Alex Sandland, was described by The Legal 500, an independent guide to law firms and their lawyers, as ‘meticulous’ and ‘highly commercial’.

James will be working along side solicitor Catherine Gregson who has developed her profile in relation to commercial property disputes with particular emphasis on agricultural issues, access disputes, boundary discrepancies and land registration disputes.

James says of his move:

‘I am excited to be part of such an experienced team here at Gadbrook Park. I think my wide experience in commercial landlord and tenant law and commercial focus adds specialist skills to the wider team and will complement what is already a strong commercial property and litigation offering.’

Alex Sandland said of James’ appointment:

‘I am delighted to welcome James to the commercial litigation team at Gadbrook Park. I am fully expecting that James will add further depth and strength to our service offering – and will play a significant part in our ongoing objectives to develop and expand the Department. It is a real coup for the firm to attract and secure someone of James’ quality.’

The Firm’s Gadbrook Park office is a dedicated commercial and agricultural office. This enables the Firm to harness the skill and expertise of their Solicitors in one office and provide a focused team that can offer advice and assistance on a full range of commercial and agricultural matters in a professional, business-centered setting.

This year, Butcher & Barlow celebrate their 130th anniversary. Over the past 130 years, the Firm has evolved and grown but the long standing reputation of Butcher & Barlow is a testament to the quality of service provided to their clients.
