Private Law Children Matters

The Family Law team here at Butcher and Barlow we are able to advise on all issues relating to children which may arise from the break down of a relationship, or the breakdown of a previous agreement reached for children.

We recognise that resolving issues relating to the arrangements for the children can be a very difficult and stressful time and it is important to ensure that such matters are dealt with sensitively.  At Butcher and Barlow we have a large number of solicitors who have accreditations that recognise their specialist expertise in children law matters.

Wherever possible we will aim to achieve an agreement for you without the need to attend court as we appreciate that court proceedings can be both expensive and emotionally draining.

It should only be necessary to go to court in relation to arrangements for children if it is not possible to come to an agreement by other means, or if there are urgent welfare issues than need consideration by the court.  We will therefore assist you to explore options of reaching an agreement without issuing court proceedings wherever possible.  Initially we will contact the other party on your behalf to see whether an agreement can be reached and discuss the suitability of attending mediation.

If court proceedings become necessary, we have the expertise to represent you within those proceedings.

The issues that we are able to advise upon include:

  • Parental responsibility for children;
  • Child arrangements orders;
  • Specific issue orders;
  • Prohibited steps orders; and
  • Special guardianship orders.

What our clients say

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for how supportive you [Nicola Wingfield and Rachael Pyke] were during the hardest point in my life. I don't know how I would have coped with the situation on top of looking after a toddler by myself. You are both amazing and caring people and I'm so lucky to have had you representing me.

I just wanted to email you [Cathy Achilles] to say thank you for everything. I appreciate all the hard work and effort you put in, you are an amazing person and you are brilliant at you job! Thank you for everything that you've done for my family .

This note is provided to express my sincere thanks to Butcher & Barlow LLP, in particular for the exceptional service received from Ms. Angela Gleave.

Angela provided legal advice and representation as my solicitor in relation to a Family Law matter involving the establishment of a Child Arrangements (i.e. residency) Order.

During what was an extremely stressful period, Angela’s calm professionalism, trustworthy decisiveness, efficiency and friendly service provided complete and welcome reassurance that I had the best possible legal representation.
As a great ambassador for Butcher & Barlow, I would not hesitate to recommend Angela’s services to any prospective client!

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the support you have given me over the court case, always being there to help me understand. I know you’ll say it’s part of your job but to me it’s more then that. You’ve been a massive help to me. I can’t ever thank you for enough for helping me get my family back. When so many others wouldn’t help me you did. You sat and listened to me. Thank you so much Mrs Achilles.
We just can’t thank you enough.
