I joined Butcher & Barlow in May 2016. It was the challenge and variety of the role that attracted me to this position and it certainly delivers! As part of the Management Team, I advise on IT matters and where necessary liaise with our external suppliers. Essentially, my role is all about extending the use of IT throughout the business, and in particular, the further development of our chosen case management system Proclaim.
As the firm’s only in-house IT resource, my role can be “hands-on” and I work closely with our IT service provider in supporting 150 plus staff across the 10 offices. I also take responsibility for the provision of IT training and creation of reference materials across Microsoft Office Applications, Proclaim and other bespoke software specific to Butcher & Barlow.
I have worked in the IT industry for 17 years, with over 8 years of experience in the legal sector including 3 years with Dwf as IT Training Team Leader. In 2012 I joined Eclipse Legal Systems as a Project Consultant, where I went on to lead a small team responsible for the ‘out of the box’ workflow solutions. I have also worked as a Senior Applications Consultant with LexisNexis UK, managing end-to-end product implementations.
Having read law at university, I hold a 2:1 LLB (Hons) Law degree as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. My IT certifications include ITIL V3 Foundation, ILM Train the Trainer and I am a Microsoft Master Instructor.
In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, whether it be gardening or going for walks. I have a great appreciation of nature and this is reflected in my love of watercolour painting and photography (although I only dabble in the latter!). Keeping fit is also on my agenda and I enjoy swimming and attending a regular pilates class.
