I am a Solicitor specialising in Residential Property and am based in both the Firm’s Bury office. I qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and have been a Partner with Butcher & Barlow since 2010, when the Firm merged with my previous firm, Howard Maitland.

I specialise in all aspects of Residential Conveyancing including:

  • Freehold and leasehold sales and purchase;
  • Re-mortgages;
  • Transfers of equity;
  • Unregistered land;
  • Help to Buy;
  • Plot purchases; and
  • Shared ownerships.

Having had many years of experience working in family law, I can also advise on Deeds of Trust and issues which arise from the joint ownership of property.

I understand that moving house can be stressful as well as exciting, and speed is of the essence. Accordingly, I embrace the assistance that it can provide and try to make sure that the conveyancing process works smoothly and efficiently for my clients.

Having worked in the Prestwich and Bury areas for over 20 years I have built up close working relationships with estate agents, mortgage advisers and other solicitors. Being able to communicate openly and honestly in a conveyancing transaction helps with the smooth running of the transaction, and the managing of expectations throughout the chain.

Outside the office, I enjoy walking in the country and travelling, at home and abroad. I like to keep fit and enjoy visiting the restaurants and bars that have sprung up on my doorstep in city-centre of Manchester.

    Sadly I did not utilise Butcher & Barlow under particularly favorable circumstances. I've had two very difficult and ultimately unsuccessful conveyancing experiences while with them. I am happy to say however, that while things did not go as planned, Butcher & Barlow conducted themselves professionally, ethically and with patience. The difficult circumstances I found myself in did give them the opportunity to demonstrate that they're honest, patient, stick to their word, and have empathy when it is required.
