IR35 Off-Payroll Tax roll out postponed until April 2021

The controversial private sector IR35 reforms have been delayed for 12 months following pressure from peers and campaigners and in consideration of the impact that COVID-19 will have on UK business and individuals.

The proposed changes, which ensured contractors paid broadly the same National Insurance and Tax contributions as employees, have not been shelved – the Government have stated this is a postponement only.

However, the delay will allow an opportunity for campaigners to push for an overhaul of what many consider ill-conceived existing and proposed legislation.

Businesses can now focus their minds on the immediate issues surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.
