Butcher & Barlow "Knocked Out" the Competition for Charity
Butcher & Barlow has long been a supporter of local charities, as we recognise the value in supporting our communities and know that they are often overlooked by larger firms. We therefore jumped at the chance of putting a team in for the ‘Its A Knockout’, at the Cheadle Festival 2009. This event was put on by the Together Trust, a charity Butcher & Barlow are proud to support.
The Together Trust has been helping children and young adults throughout the North West with behavioural problems, learning difficulties and physical disabilities since 1870. The Trust provides multiple services all in aid of assisting the community and providing valuable much needed social care. It is additionally registered as a care agency for children and adults, and is also one of the largest providers of residential services from short-term emergency care to long-term placements.
This year’s Cheadle Festival was the 89th organised by the Trust and took place on Saturday 30th May at the Trust’s campus.
Partners, solicitors and administration staff put their all into the event and were supported by many of the staff who were unable to participate. Such was their passion for the event Butcher & Barlow were awarded first place in the first show out of the 7 teams entered.
Le-Ann Walker, one of the partners who was brave enough to take part said “We all enjoyed the challenge and had great fun taking part! With all the foam and water involved we were glad that it was a nice day and winning was the icing on the cake. We are all proud to have taken part in the event and helped to raised money for such a worthy cause.”
The winning team are hoping to be invited back next year in order to defend their title and raise valuable money for such a worthwhile cause.
The event raised a net profit of £8,000 and the monies will be used for the benefit of the children, young people and adults that the Together Trust supports throughout the year.
