Law firm appoints Caroline Cockill-Guy as partner

EXPANDING legal firm Butcher and Barlow LLP, has appointed Caroline Cockill-Guy as a new partner.

Caroline, joined the firm two years ago, and has played a vital role in the growth of its family law division.

With 12 offices in Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester, Butcher and Barlow LLP has grown rapidly over the past three years and is now one of the largest commercial practices in the North West of England.

Caroline joins a team of 22 partners and more than 100 staff providing comprehensive and proactive services in the legal areas of commercial law, conveyancing, family law, litigation, wills and probate.

Born in Altrincham and living in Northwich, Caroline is married with a family. Her hobbies include travel and spending time with her family.

She’ll continue to work at the firm’s Northwich office in London Road, although will also be spending time with the new family law team, which has established a dedicated office in Bury offering specialist advice in all areas of family law.

An honours degree student Caroline has been practising law for 12 years and is looking forward to her new role.

“I’m delighted to become a partner with Butcher and Barlow LLP. We have a fantastic combination of talented people and can rival any legal firm in the country in terms of knowledge and experience, but we also provide a local, accessible service through a network of offices that clients value,” she said.

Caroline is also an accredited family mediator, skilled in assisting people to resolve disputes over arrangements for children, finances, property disputes and divorce or civil partnership.

“Mediation is becoming more common place since new Government legislation covering divorce came into force earlier in the year. It is a far quicker option than negotiating matters through solicitors or in court. It can be difficult for a couple who have decided to go their separate ways to sit together and talk but it is usually far more productive and considerably cheaper,” she added.

Senior partner Charles Barlow said: “Caroline has become a valued member of the Butcher and Barlow legal team and I’m delighted she’s becoming a partner in the firm.

“Her experience will further enhance the reputation of our family division and improve the services we are able to offer clients,” he added.
